Cumbria rural crime team highlights crime reduction in 2023

The team says they try to operate through a community focus and that prevention is a huge part of their work.

Some of our preventative work includes visiting premises to advise on security measures, installing technical equipment and signage, attending engagement events working with local suppliers and dealerships, and securing bail conditions preventing out-of-force nominals from entering Cumbria.

A spokesperson from the Cumbria Police Rural Crime Team said: "We are pleased that last year saw a 15% reduction in quad thefts, a 10% reduction in high-value machinery thefts, and over 6% reduction in sheep thefts across our county from the previous year.
