A MAN has been arrested and charged following what police say was the "shocking" discovery of a 'tiger's claw' knife.

The Cheshire Police Rural Crime Team said it had been out on routine fishing enforcement patrol in the Caughall area of Chester when the knife was found "within easy reach" of a van driver in the vicinity of fishing pools.

Officers said the occupants of the van, while there to conduct angling with rods and lines, were "well known" to them.

The man was charged with possession of an offensive weapon, no insurance and no driving licence.

Police say the weapon seized is an Indonesian Karambit, inspired by a tiger's claw.

A spokesperson for the team said: "It's designed to be concealed and then used to attack victims by slashing or hooking to cause painful ripping wounds.
