POLICE visited a farm in north Dorset after reports of sheep worrying and two sheep recently being attacked by dogs.

Dorset Police’s Rural Crime Team visited the farm in Hazelbury Bryan yesterday (Saturday, February 11) to provide reassurance to the farm owners.

Worrying livestock is when a dog attacks or chases livestock on agricultural land or is at large in a field with sheep, which can result in significant injury or suffering and in the worst cases, death of the animals.

The call-out was part of a busy day for the rural crime team which began with a visit to Lytchett Matravers following reports of a possible stolen dog being located. Officers checked the dog’s microchip with their reader and found all was in order.
