Two cars were left with significant damage after a field fire in north Dorset.

Firefighters from Sherborne, Maiden Newton and Yeovil were called to "a large fire in the open" at 3.06pm on Sunday, August 28.

The blaze, at a field in Duddenfield, Yetminster, began to spread towards property and engulfed two vehicles.

Around 35m x 35m of the field was alight upon arrival.

The fire was extinguished using hose reel jets whilst the cars are said to have "suffered 25% damage."

The cause of the fire is yet to be established but it prompted a reminder from Sherborne Fire Station about the use of BBQs.
