Force:

Hertfordshire Constabulary

Officers from Hertsmere’s Safer Neighbourhood Team have been working with partner agencies to tackle motorcyclists riding their off-road bikes illegally on open land.

Sergeant Iain Brunt said: “You told us that motorcyclists were driving illegally and in an anti-social manner near or on North Medburn Farm, in the Oakridge Lane area of Radlett and on land off Theobald Street in Borehamwood.

“As a result of your feedback we made this one of our priorities to tackle over a three-month period from November last year.

“We worked with Hertfordshire County Council to arrange for access points to be reviewed so that preventative measures could be put in place. As a result, new fencing and ‘motorcycle inhibitors’ have been installed at entrance points to public footpaths off Theobald Street to stop motorcyclists from gaining access to the land. Thanks to the support of Hertsmere Borough Council warning signage will also be going up shortly.

“While this work has been taking place behind the scenes, we have been carrying out a number of patrols with the constabulary’s Rural Operational Support Team (ROST) to stop motorcyclists and take action.
