Officers are appealing for information after a cat sustained brain damage and had to have one of its eyes removed after being shot in the head by a pellet gun in Stoke-on-Trent.
Police were called shortly before 12.30pm on Tuesday (7 June) to a residential property on Hartshill Road.
The cat’s owner reported the animal being hurt on Monday (6 June) and was taken to the vets to receive emergency medical treatment.
Thankfully, the cat, called Toto, who is two-years-and-seven-months-old, is now recovering from the injury at home.
Detective Inspector Scott McGrath of Stoke-on-Trent South Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This is a highly distressing crime that caused serious injury to a defenceless animal.
“I would encourage anyone who knows anything about this offence to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
Officers are currently conducting local inquiries in the area.
