BIRD boxes and bug hotels decorated by local children and installed by residents have been stolen from a park near Totton.
The handmade items were created by the Friends of Bartley Park, a group looks after an area of land between West Totton and Ashurst Bridge.
Working parties of volunteers regularly tidy and litter pick the land, which is owned by Totton and Eling Town Council.
Teresa Young, who set up the group with her husband David, told the A&T the eight bug hotels and six bird boxes had been put up between October and November last year.
They were all taken some time between 23rd February and 9th March and the theft has been reported to police.
Teresa said: "The group was upset but our grandchildren and their friends who had decorated them were very upset. It is just mindless."
