Arson attempt after paraffin is poured inside Swanage train carriage

A “CULTURAL” asset was broken into, soaked with paraffin and almost set alight in a “reckless” attack in Swanage.

Volunteers and workers at Swanage Railway Station have been left “deeply upset” following an incident of criminal damage and arson to a carriage of one of the trains.

At some point between the late hours of Friday, February 24 and the early hours of Saturday, February 25, several windows were smashed, paraffin was poured throughout a carriage and a rag was set alight in an attempt to set the carriage on fire.
