VISITORS to one of Powys’ most scenic and popular tourist spots have been warned about the dangers of arson after two unattended fires had to be put out over the weekend.
Dyfed Powys Police said one fire that had been left to burn in the Brecon Beacons National Park was located at the base of a tree, which could have had disastrous consequences.
The force’s Rural Crime Team said officers had been on patrol in the Beacons on Sunday, April 10, educating and advising visitors on the dangers of setting fires – adding that national park staff had extinguished two unattended fires in the region over the weekend.
