Barn fire in Bampton spread to annexe but main house saved

Seventeen fire crews were needed to tackle a barn fire that had spread to an attached house near Tiverton on Saturday (August 29).

Just before 1pm reports came in of a barn on fire on the outskirts of Bampton.

It was reported that the fire had already started to spread to the adjoining homes.

A number of fire engines were mobilised.

On arrival, firefighters found the barn well alight and the fire had already started to spread to the adjoining annexe, threatening the main house.
