A BISHOP Auckland man is due to be sentenced after admitting to causing unnecessary suffering to dogs and horses.

Shaun Edwin Brownless, of Coundon, near Bishop Auckland, appeared at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

The 37-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to two charges of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.

It relates to offences carried out on or before March 19 last year.

The court heard he caused suffering to dogs and horses by failing to explore and address the causes of the animals poor condition.

The case was adjourned to allow for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.

Brownless, of Well Chare, was remanded on unconditional bail until a sentencing hearing on April 4.

It will take place at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Co
