POLICE and council officials have slammed a group of 40 “problematic and noisy” teenagers in a County Durham village after seizing alcohol and breaking up anti-social behaviour.

On Friday (April 8), neighbourhood wardens from Durham County Council and local policing teams were called to a large group of youths drinking and causing anti-social behaviour in the Tanfield area after complaints from members of the public.

After searching the area, a group of 40 teenagers were located in a nearby estate, with the enforcement teams seizing alcohol, dispersing the group and taking identifications.

Some of the youths were also spoken to in relation to the noise they were creating, as well as the amount of litter that had been dumped.

A spokesperson for Durham County Council’s warden team said: “A group of 40+ youths were located after hearing them from an estate nearby. Alcohol was seized along with identifications taken.

Some of the youths were spoken to with regards to the level of noise they were making concerning nearby residents and the litter that they leave behind.
