A County Durham farmer has said their village is being plagued by "menacing" dogs which have attacked and killed sheep.
A number of sheep and lambs were attacked and maimed by two Alsatian dogs at Burnhope Flatts Farm over the weekend, with one lamb being killed after sustaining throat wounds. The other sheep that were attacked required stitches from a vet due to the severity of their injuries and some were put to sleep.
Husband and wife, Terry, 77, and Jenny Deary, 72, who own the Burnhope Village farm, say that the incident is one of many that have occurred in the village in recent years. They say that "menacing" dogs have blighted the community, with many villagers avoiding certain walking routes to avoid any potential danger.
