Four men have appeared in court charged with offences relating to the theft of fuel in west Kent.

Between midnight and 1.35am on Saturday 26 March 2022, Kent Police received calls from lorry drivers parked near Detling and Leybourne, alleging people had been seen tampering with the fuel caps on HGVs.

Suspicious
Patrols were deployed to the areas and, following a search, two suspicious lorries were located travelling along the A228 near Snodland.

The vehicles were stopped and, when they were inspected, were found to have suspected siphoning equipment under their cabs.

Each lorry had two occupants and all four were arrested and taken into custody.

Charged
Alin-ionel Constantin, Mihai-madalin Anton, George-Mihata Misca and Florin-bogdan Perdut, all of no fixed address, were later charged with interference with a motor vehicle and possessing articles for use in the course of theft.
