Firefighters rush to tackle ANOTHER heath fire in Winfrith Newburgh

Crews from across Dorset rushed to deal with a large fire in Winfrith Newburgh.

Firefighters from Dorchester, Wareham, Poole, and Bere Regis were mobilised to the incident shortly after 2pm yesterday (August 29).

Around 70m x 40m of heathland was alight with crews on-site for over an hour.

The fire was extinguished using hose reel jets and a main line before Dorchester and Bere Regis dealt with damping down hotspots.

The area was re-inspected this morning and a futher hotspot was extinguished.
