Gloucestershire Constabulary

An animal welfare charity received more reports of suspected illegal hunting activity and "havoc" caused by fox hunts in Gloucestershire than anywhere else in England and Wales. Over the recent hunting season, November 2022 to April this year, the League Against Cruel Sports recorded 90 such incidents across the county.

Gloucestershire had both the largest number of suspected illegal hunts, 35, and incidents of "havoc" relating to a hunt, 55, recorded by the charity than any other county. When fox cub hunting season is included (August-October) the total number of suspected illegal hunts and other incidents totals 135, a stark figure that the League has described as a "rural crime wave".
