Thieves have stolen £5,000-worth of equipment from a van belonging to a Derby dad who works seven days a week. Two people were seen on CCTV footage breaking into the van, belonging to mechanic Niall Butler, and stole everything out of it including tools, gear and equipment.
The total cost of the items stolen comes to around £5,000 and also includes some sentimental items passed to Niall by his late grandfather. The 33-year-old, from Alvaston, has been left devastated and deflated after more than a decade of hard work and commitment was taken from him in a robbery that lasted no more than five minutes.
Carly Evans, who lives nearby, has since set up a GoFundMe page, in the hopes that some money can be raised to help buy back some of the items stolen, as Niall has been left with nothing. Furthermore, Som Bhardwaj, Niall's boss at Sawley garage, KAM Servicing, donated £1,000 as a gesture of goodwill to help him get back on his feet.
