A Land Rover Defender has been stolen from a farm yard near Bishop's Castle.

West Mercia Police has warned that there has been a spike in Land Rover Defender thefts in Shropshire over the last few months.

The theft at the farm in Norbury is the first reported theft in the Bishop’s Castle area.

Police say the theft of the green Land Rover Defender 90 with registration plate DU07 TXK happened overnight on Monday, February 28, and Tuesday, March 1.

Graham Donaldson, rural and business crime officer at West Mercia Police said: “Following a recent spate of thefts and attempted thefts of Land Rover Defenders in the Shropshire area, we have been visiting farms across the county to advise farmers of the steps they can take to help prevent them from becoming a victim.
