A driver transporting tractors was stopped by police near Trowbridge this morning (Wednesday, May 25).

Officers from Wiltshire Police Specialist Operations stopped the transporter after spotting that the driver was not wearing a seat belt.

The lorry was carrying multiple tractors on the A350 at West Ashton.

Officers said that the driver "seemed to have forgotten the basics in road safety".

Later in the morning the same officers stopped another driver in Trowbridge for not wearing a seat belt.

It's a roads policing day being carried out by Wiltshire Police and Philip Wilkinson, the county's police and crime commissioner, in an effort to reduce poor driving.

The law states that people must wear a seat belt if one is fitted in the seat they're using.

Drivers and passengers can be fined up to £500 if they don’t wear a seat belt when they're supposed to.

Children must also wear a seatbelt wearing a seat belt if they’re 12 or 13 years old, or younger and over 135cm tall.
