A MAN has been arrested and charged after a dog was allowed to enter an active badger sett in Fife.

The incident was reported to the police on Tuesday, January 10 2023.

The 50-year-old man will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with various offences under the Protection of Badgers Act 1992 and the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006.

Detective Constable Ben Pacholek, Wildlife Crime Liaison Officer for Fife, said: “The use of dogs to commit wildlife crime will always be robustly investigated and Police Scotland will continue to work closely with our partner agencies to identify anyone committing wildlife crime.
