Simon Taylor and his partner Ashley Sheraton have both been convicted at Newcastle Crown Court
A man found with £4,500 worth of stolen bicycles stashed in his home has been jailed - after officers received a tip-off from the community.
Simon Taylor was caught with more than a dozen bikes inside his Sunderland address – all of which had been reported as stolen from members of the public.
Police executed a warrant at his Padgate Road address in June 2020 and found the collection of bikes after receiving intelligence from the public that Taylor and his partner Ashley Sheraton may be involved in criminality.
Among the bikes found was a Pendleton electric bike worth £1,000 that had been stolen from a Royal Mail worker who relied on it to do her job during the pandemic.
Yesterday (Wednesday), 39-year-old Taylor admitted six counts of handling stolen goods when he appeared at Newcastle Crown Court and was jailed for three years.
