A man has been told to pay £1,281 for breaching an order handed to him for being involved in suspected wildlife offences in the Driffield area.

Michael Harrison, 35, of, Lazenby Road, Hartlepool, was given the largest fine ever imposed in the East Riding of this kind for a charge of breaching a community protection notice, as he was suspected to be involved in hare coursing.

Harrison's case was heard by Beverley Magistrates' Court on Thursday 9 March. He did not attend and the case was proved in his absence.

He was fined £660 and was ordered to pay a £264 victim surcharge, and costs of £357 - a total of £1,281.
