Two men have been fined over £2000 for unlawfully disposing waste on a farm without a permit.

The Environment Agency have prosecuted Mr George Dunkerley, of Nenthead and Mr Ross Cook, of The Roundway in Newcastle for waste related offences during an 2022 investigation.

Officers from Eden Local Focus Hub conducted the joint waste operation with partner agencies at a farm in Nenthead.

On Wednesday, April 12 2023 George Dunkerley plead guilty to operating a regulated facility for disposal of waste without an environmental permit. This led to a total fine and costs of £2588.

Additionally, Ross Cook plead guilty to unlawfully depositing controlled waste at a Nenthead Farm without a permit and recieved a total fine and cost of £2027.

Sergeant Jack Stabler of Cumbria Police said, “The fines of both individuals reflect the seriousness of unlawfully disposing waste in Cumbria.
