Police have recovered stolen tools after a suspicious van failed to stop.

The Nottinghamshire Roads Policing Unit were on patrol in the Newark area in the early hours of Friday morning when they stumbled across a van caught in the act of a theft.

The van failed to stop for the police and led officers on a short pursuit before going off road in an attempt to escape.
