Officers hunted down a suspected drug dealer who drove at more than 100mph through village streets last night.
Officers pursued the suspicious vehicle which failed to stop in Wolsingham Market Place as the driver sped through Frosterley at 65mph at around 9pm.
Within five minutes, the driver had crashed the Mercedes into a dry-stone wall and attempted to flee the scene on foot before being chased down by officers.
The man in 30s failed a drug wipe at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and dangerous driving.
After finding drugs and cash on the suspect, his home was also searched where officers recovered a substantial amount of cannabis.
The suspect was detained overnight and has been released under investigation as forensic enquiries continue.
