Police are appealing for witnesses to the theft of a large amount of cabling in Pakenham.
The incident took place overnight, between 7.30pm on Monday 4 April and 6.50am on Tuesday 5 April in Thurston Road, Pakenham. The offenders removed a 300 metre length of metal cable from a large duct in the ground. The cable is used to supply telephone and broadband services.
The cable is very heavy and would have required a number of people to lift it.
This theft is believed to be linked to another incident in Thurston Road in the village that took place between 5pm on Tuesday 29 March and 7am on Wednesday 30 March. Again, this involved the theft of an underground cable.
