Force:

Devon & Cornwall Police

Police are warning farmers in Devon and Cornwall of a scam.

A man has been calling farmers and offering them a large amount of agricultural kit at a knockdown price.

Officers are advising farmers on the receiving end not to get conned by the trick.

The police are also asking that they spread the word to their fellow farmers.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We believe that some farms may have been contacted by a male cold calling by telephone offering large amounts of agricultural items with a storyline of the items being at a reduced price.

"We believe this could be a scam and advise that people should not buy from cold callers – as the risks are high."

"Please be wary of this and inform others."

They have also asked that anyone with any further information email them at 101@dc.police.uk or phone 101.
