POLICE have issued appeal after a sheep worrying incident.

West Yorkshire Police's Wildlife & Rural Crime posted on its Facebook page today about a number of issues that had happened in the last 24 hours.

There were 27 in total.

One of these was sheep worrying in the Holmfirth area.

Sheep worrying is when a dog is chasing a sheep, or flock of sheep, and the animal or animals then endure suffering or injury.

Farmers have in the past had to shoot dogs that are worrying their sheep, and therefore putting at risk their livelihood.

The Countryside Alliance said 92 dogs were shot as a result of sheep worrying between 2013 and 2017.
