Police are reminding dog owners not to allow their animals to worry livestock in the countryside.

The reminder comes after a report of sheep worrying at a heritage site in Caistor St Edmund on bank holiday Monday 8 May 2023.

It reportedly happened at around 1pm when a man threw a ball for a spaniel – which was off the lead at the time - into a field of sheep.

No sheep were attacked but this type of behaviour can cause undue stress to the animals and cause the lambs to stop feeding, putting their lives at risk.

PC Christopher Holmes of the Rural Crime Unit said there had been a number of anecdotal reports of livestock worrying.
