Dyfed-Powys Police are appealing for information after a ewe was illegally slaughtered.

The Powys Rural Crime Team are investigating after a yearling ewe from an enclosed farm field in the Llanfair Caereinion area was killed.

They said the criminals took the carcass but left the animal's skin.

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesperson said: "All that remained at scene was the skin as the carcass was stolen."

The crime team are warning that this type of crime could "pose a threat to public health" if this illegally slaughtered meat enters the food chain.
