Police investigate 'brutal' swan killing at Colburn Lakes

Police are investigating the ‘brutal’ killing of a swan while it was guarding its nest.

Two eggs were also taken from the swan’s nest. Killing wild birds and taking their eggs are both offences.

The incident happened on Tuesday (May 16) afternoon between 2.30pm and 6.30pm at Colburn Lakes, behind the Brompton Swale Caravan Park near Catterick, North Yorkshire

Police have described the killing of the adult male swan as “brutal”.
