Residents in County Durham and Darlington are being called upon to join forces with the police in support of new initiative, Rurali.

This new scheme - specifically tailored to support rural areas, was launched by Durham Constabulary at Upper Teesdale Agricultural Support Services (UTASS) in Middleton-in-Teesdale last Thursday (January 11).

The initiative, backed by Police and Crime Commissioner Joy Allen’s ‘Safer Streets’ funding, is set to enhance the safety and security of rural and urban fringe communities. £205k has been allocated to exclusively tackle rural crime which represents the largest funding grant to date dedicated to combatting rural crime.
