Police statement as train hits car on Yorkshire level crossing and driver seriously injured

A country road in Newbridge has been reopened after a serious incident after a train hit a car this afternoon on a rural level crossing.

Drivers in Pickering were told to avoid the scene due to a busy emergency response, as an air ambulance and paramedics raced to the scene. The driver of the vehicle suffered 'serious injuries' and has since been taken to hospital.
