Lincolnshire Police thanked a member of the public today after they recovered a vehicle stolen from an address in Bennington the previous night. The Rural Crime Action Team got to work in locating the vehicle after a public-spirited resident tipped them off.

Officers tweeted at 9.34pm tonight (Saturday): "Another stolen vehicle recovered by Lincolnshire Rural Crime Action Team after it was taken from an address in Long Bennington overnight. A big thank you to the member of the public who reported their suspicions! The investigation is ongoing."

Lincolnshire Police are keen to spread the message that prevention is better than cure, however, and they are keen for car owners to play their part in deterring would-be thieves from taking vehicles by making it as hard as possible to do so. They issued a tweet to help car owners, saying: "We routinely see cars stolen from driveways overnight, without the keys being touched, and this is how it’s done. Quiet housing estates are targeted."

A series of graphics is then intended to give car owners the necessary information to make it impossible for the would-be car thief.
