Police are urging East Devon rural residents to be vigilant against thieves after two farms around Colyton were burgled in the space of a fortnight.

Devon and Cornwall Police said outbuildings were targeted, and urged farmers in East Devon to lock barns and log property.

Anyone spotting suspicious callers or activity around farms or rural property is urged to call 999 and take down any vehicle registration numbers.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “We have had a couple of burglaries to outbuildings reported to us from farms in and around Colyton over the last two weeks.
