Rutland policing team encourage more security measures in rural areas

Date of alert:

Wednesday, 9 March 2022

Crime Ref:

Force:

Leicestershire Police

Rutland and Leicestershire's Rural Policing Team are advising residents and farmers in rural areas to take greater precautions to prevent against crime.

They're suggesting that people install trackers on property like farm or horse equipment, and are encouraging rural residents to join local WhatsApp groups to stay up to date and in communication with each other.

They say it's because victims of rural crime like property theft don't realise something's missing until after it's been taken.

Leicestershire & Rutland Rural Policing Team also suggest that people record serial numbers of property, like trailers, quads and tools.
