Salmon poachers target West Bay, police believe

Poachers are reportedly targeting West Bay for salmon, police believe.

Officers from Dorset Police's rural crime team teamed up with Environment Agency Fisheries Enforcement Officers in the early hours of this morning to check out reports of salmon poaching with spearguns in the area.

It's prompted an appeal for the public to be vigilant.

A spokesman for the rural crime team said: "The value of salmon is up to £25 a kilo. A large salmon can be worth hundreds of pounds.
