HUGE patches of burnt land have been discovered close to the Gwrych Castle Woods in Abergele, with police warning people of the dangers of camp fires and disposable barbecues.

North Wales Police Rural Crime Team undertook a joint visit to the site with colleagues from local policing, National Resource Wales and the Gwrych Castle Trust, where they discovered the devastation caused by open fires.

With the area a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), Police are warning members of the public of the “irreparable harm” that camp fires and barbecues can cause, and the burden this damage can be on emergency services.
