Farmers are being urged to report all cases of rural crime in a bit to halt the “increase in incidents in its tracks”.
The call comes as Police Scotland announces a move to tackle crime in rural communities and enhance crime prevention in Angus.
As part of The Angus Partnership Against Rural Crime, officers will be conducting a range of partnership activity alongside 12 other local and national organisations to tackle offences such as theft of agricultural machinery, vehicles, tools, livestock or fuel - to fire-raising, housebreaking, fly tipping and vandalism.
The collaborative approach will involve the support and assistance of Angus Council, Forestry and Land Scotland, Neighbourhood Watch (Scotland), Zero Waste Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue, Scottish Water, British Horse Society, Heritage Scotland and National Farmers Union (Scotland).
