Police are appealing for witnesses after a lamb was stolen and sheep “butchered” in a Dorking field. The incident involving the livestock occurred around the hamlet of Forest Green with officers from Surrey Police receiving a report about it on Friday (July 22).

Following the incident, police have now warned farmers in the area to be aware of any suspicious activity and have asked anyone with information to come forward. The police, who do not have a description of the suspect, first made the public aware of the incident on July 24 via Facebook, reporting a sheep was suspected to be “butchered” in the field situated off Holmbury Lane.

Rural crime officer PC Laura Rowley said: “This is a very concerning incident, and we’re doing everything we can to work out what might have happened. If you were in the area overnight on Friday and saw anyone entering a field on this road, please get in touch straight away.

“We’re also appealing to all farmers and livestock owners to keep their eyes out for any suspicious activity and report it to us, particularly if you’re approached by anyone looking to buy livestock.”
