Shipston firefighters help tackle barn fire

Firefighters from Shipston helped to tackle a barn fire which could be seen for miles around.

A Warwickshire Fire and Rescue crew from Shipston Fire Station was called to an incident in Friz Hill yesterday afternoon.

The team discovered a barn fire creating huge plumes of smoke, and have been at the site most of today monitoring the situation.

A spokesperson said: "Yesterday afternoon the crew from Shipston were providing fire cover with firefighters from Fenny Compton.

"While covering the area we were alerted to a 'Fire Agricultural' on the Kineton Rd at Friz Hill. Due to the large plumes of smoke visible from miles away the decision was made to 'Make Pumps 5' and a bowser was also requested due to the location."
