Thieves are targeting tractors amid a rise in theft of agricultural GPS systems in Warwickshire. Only last week in North Warwickshire, two tractors had their screens and aerials taken.

Warwickshire Police's rural crime team says it is working with the National Farmers Union and other partners to 'do everything we can' to address the crime. Officers say they are also teaming up with other forces and national intelligence.

They are also linking up with police in other countries. Intelligence has revealed that this is sometimes where the stolen equipment is found.

The team said that some arrests have been made. Yet to help them, they have asked the farming community to do their bit too.

They have urged all those who use GPS systems to record all serial numbers, store in a secure place where possible when not in use and mark both visibly and invisibly. They have also asked farmers to be aware when working in the fields and on the farm and report anyone seen acting suspiciously.
