Two people have been arrested after officers tracked down a stolen trailer.

Nottinghamshire officers were called after colleagues in Leicestershire located a trailer, believed to have been stolen, as it travelled on the A46 towards Willoughby-on-the-Wolds.

Units from both Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire caught up with the vehicle and brought it to a halt in Inholms Road, Flintham, just before 10.30am on Tuesday (22 March 2022).

As officers made further enquiries, they discovered the trailer had been reported stolen from the Doncaster area on Tuesday 1 March 2022.

Two men, aged 21 and 34, were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and have since been released under investigation as enquiries continue.

Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for Rushcliffe Rob Lawton said: “Cracking down on rural crime is a priority for Rushcliffe and we are committed to acting on information and working with partners and neighbouring forces to stop those committing these types of crimes in Nottinghamshire, or using the county’s roads to facilitate their activity.

“This was fantastic work from our officers, alongside Leicestershire colleagues, who acted very quickly when they received information that a stolen trailer was in our area.
