A man has been arrested in the Witney area on suspicion of illegal hunting and animal welfare offences.

The suspect is is custody awaiting interview after he was arrested by Thames Valley Police’s Rural Crime Taskforce this morning.

Two dogs were also seized and are currently being checked over by a vet.

It follows an incident last month when three men were charged in connection with hare coursing in Letcombe Bassett area, near Wantage.

They were accused of using dogs to chase hares. The dogs also circled a flock of sheep, of which one was later found dead in the field.
