WATER company workers have been praised after rescuing a foal found stuck in a culvert in County Durham.

Northumbrian Water technical support advisers Daniel Clemenson and Adam Tindle and operations support assistant Anth Carver were installing cameras in drains in Crook when they were alerted by cries from the foal’s distressed mother.

The three, who all work with Northumbrian Water's sewage team, entered the culvert and managed to coax the foal out.

Northumbria Water posted in social media: “We are INCREDIBLY proud of our Dan, Adam and Anth who carried out a brilliant rescue after a young foal got stuck in a culvert in Crook, County Durham.

"The team were working in the area when they heard the cries of the foal’s distressed mother and went to see what was going on.

"Locals believed that the poor baby was stuck here for a few days before being rescued by the team

"Once they managed to coax the youngster out and when the rescue was complete, both the mother and baby ran off into the sunset together! A lovely story, and great work by those involved!"
