What we know so far as potential 'human bones' are discovered in Morpeth

Northumbria Police have launched a full-scale investigation after potential human bones were found in the woods near Cottingwood Lane, Northumberland.

An investigation has been launched by Northumbria Police after potentially human bones were found in a woodland area of Northumberland.

Police received reports of the bones just before 3pm yesterday (March 9) before descending onto the scene to investigate further.

Inquiries are still ongoing today, with a number of vehicles at the scene in Cottingwood Lane, Morpeth, with forensic units also attending a cordoned off section of woodland.
