The unit tweeted: “Driver and passenger located using the capabilities of the Derbyshire rural crime team’s drone. Not drunk or drugged, just completely reckless. Reported to court.”

Birds & badgers that had been illegally shot were also located by the flying camera devices, while two suspects were found and detained by Derbyshire Roads Policing unit with assistance from Derbyshire Police Dogs Team.

The bird’s body was found at Flouch, near the popular visitor hotspot of Langsett, by a volunteer for the Peak District Raptor Monitoring Group, who reported it to the police.

At the scene a Mercedes and an Audi were found to have been badly damaged. CCTV viewed by officers captured the moment that the offender, who is believed to have been riding a motorcycle, set the Mercedes alight, with the fire then spreading to the Audi.

Officers investigating a robbery in Dronfield are appealing for information.

The incident took place between 2.30am and 3.30am on Thursday 24 February 2022 at Kearny Hogg Motorcycles, Bradley Street, Sandiacre.

The incident occurred over the weekend in Glutton Bridge and Derbyshire Rural Crime Team are calling for help to identify those responsible.
